We’ve been working with the Orang Utan Coffee Project (OUCP) for almost eight years now. OUCP promotes rainforest conservation, premium pay, high organic standards, and, of course, the safeguarding of the Sumatran orangutan. 

This year, we’ve chosen to roast beans from Pondok Gajah, a farmer group in Indonesia involved with the project since 2019. With fertile soils situated at 1500m above sea level, the farmers have perfect growing conditions for speciality coffee. 

The end results are semi-washed/wet-hulled green Arabica beans with Indonesia National Standard organic certification. The flavour profile is jammy and fruit-forward, alongside familiar earthy flavours.

These smallholders commit to cultivating their land ecologically. In return, they are paid a premium for their green coffee.
